King Cobra

Im thinking of something  fearless, handless, feetless, BUT largest of its kind? 

The King Cobra! It’s the largest venomous snake in the world, a large King Cobra’s head is the size of a man’s hand.   

Critter At A Glance

What sets them apart from all other snakes?  The vertebrae (bones) in a King Cobra’s neck have long ribs that can be pulled out to make the famous cobra hood.  When they are threatened they will stick out their hood and lung towards the enemy with their fangs.  Their fangs shoot venom when they bite down. 

What about raising their young? A male and female will stay together for many years to have babies together.  They are the only snakes to make an actual nest.  Even though their eggs do not need to be incubated with the parent’s heat, the mother will sit on the nest to protect it.  

What do they need to survive?  King Cobras are found in India, parts of China and Malaysia, the Sunda Islands to Bali, the Andaman Islands, and the Philippines.  They like forests and fields near water.  They hunt in the day or night and eat mostly other snakes!

Even though the King Cobra doesn’t have the most toxic venom of all snakes, they shoot the most venom with their bite.  This makes them highly dangerous!
