Critter At A Glance
What are Indian Peacock’s critter talents? Like other bird species, the male birds have amazing colored feathers on their tails. The exciting teal, blue, spotted feathers we think of when we imagine a peacock belong to the boys. Some think the colorful tales look like blueberries, which attract female birds. Others believe they look intimidating and protect them from predators.
What can we learn about their feathers? Peacock babies look identical at first. When the male birds turn 3 months, they start to get their true colored feathers. Even after gaining their “Grown-Up Feathers,” these birds shed and grow new ones each year.
How do they spend their time? These critters like to inhabit open forests, stream-side forests, or orchards. They eat many things such as insects, berries, small animals, and some crops. They are very quick and good at running away from large wild cats or dogs, but can be preyed on more easily in a surprise attack.
Let’s jump into Semesh’s story!
Are you ready for an out of this world fact?
Peacock feathers have super tiny, invisible to our naked eye, structures that look like beautiful crystals. These crystal structures reflect light and give the fluorescent colors of a peacock’s train.
