Critter At A Glance

What are they like?  Jungle Carpet Pythons grow to be 5-9feet long.  Even though they aren’t venomous, they have razor sharp small teeth.  They spend a lot of their time in trees and some time on land, which makes them semi-arboreal.  They are most active at night, but can be spotted basking in the warm sun during the day.

Do they look different from other carpet pythons?  Jungle Carpet Pythons have special markings on their heads.  They have black lines along the sides of their heads that go through their eyes.  They also have black scales near their nostrils.

Does anything else set them apart?  Pythons are the only snakes that have two full lungs.  Other snakes might have a second smaller lung, but only use one.

Let’s jump into the story about Noah!

All Carpet Pythons have special heat sensing scales around their mouth.  This helps them find warm-blooded mammals to prey on.
